Ayat Skill Development Centre (ASDC) envisions a society where every person has the right to a dignified life. Dignifying Life through education, empowerment, employment and healthcare. Ayat’s initiatives have included market driven skill development and employment generation of high school dropout youths, skill development and job placement of persons with disabilities, psychosocial counselling on safe migration and human trafficking and advocacy tours to rural high schools with SREDA (Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority) on sustainable and renewable energy. Ayat’s awareness and capacity building initiative of healthcare professionals is a follow on to its commitment to the society of ensuring better healthcare for the general population as a basic human right. The United Nations Committee on Economic, social and Cultural Rights states the need for Palliative Care as “Attention and care for chronically and terminally ill persons, sparing them avoidable pain and enabling them to die with dignity”. Ayat Skill Development Centre has organized a comprehensive program that includes the advocacy of the need for palliative care through community engagement, policy inclusion, awareness and capacity building initiatives. The program also includes the international certification by ELNEC (End-of-Life-Nursing-Education-Consortium) on Palliative care in collaboration with esteemed faculty and trainers from Simmons College of Nursing and Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, MA. USA.
